Describe- My piece is a small circular object that fit onto someone's finger. Its red and yellow with a marble texture and smooth. The ring is a size 8 and should fit most fingers.
Interpret- When I was making this piece I wanted to create something very delicate but bold. The ring is supposed to represent the way some is feeling. Analyse- The the ring is very symmetrical and smooth. It flows well and has a good design. Its very balanced and has a nice center. Judge- I think this piece is very successful considering I have never made anything in jewelry before. I love the way it looks and feels.

1. For this group project our goal was to create an Installation Art piece that could be presented in the school. Our class came up with the idea to do a crystal cove. We started by making a template and cutting out three different sizes of cardboard piece that would be assembled together. Each group member was assigned a different size crystal and we worked together to make it happen.
2. I think the shape and designe of the crystals were really good. When they were installed in the school the display was very nice, and everything worked well together. 3. If I were to change anything I would have added color or paint to all the crystals to enhance the Installation art experience. I think the extra color would have made the piece more vibrant and lively. 1. Our tables idea was to turn one of the rest places into a garden/ nature area by adding flowers and vines to the walls to turn the bland space into something refreshing and soothing.
1. For my inspired piece I took inspiration from an ancient Vase made back in 2000 BC. It's very simple but shares a special message. The outside is very natural while the inside is full of melted glass and beauty. This piece reflects inner beauty.
2. For this piece I used coiling to craft it. I used a lot of coils to slowly make the shape I was looking for. Then I trimmed and put the glass on the inside of the piece. 3. It was inspired by it's simplicity yet complex. It was trying to imitate the piece by using just the design. I feel that my piece did accurately represent the piece from the museum because it's design is simple but beautiful. 1. I think I was able to use the scraps for my piece to create something very creative. I was able to add dimension through positive and negative space.
2. I found it difficult to find inspiration for this piece. It was hard trying to make something original 3. I found that the scrapes I collected ended up working very well with what I was trying to create. 4. I started by collecting lots of random but unique scraps. Then I started by attaching a base to my main section. Next I made it so it could spin and added the mirrors to the bottom. 1. I thought the proportions of the shark were very good. I also thought the painting and final coat was good.
2. If I could go back and change anything I would have made the initial size much smaller so I could put more attention and detail into the finished coat. 3. We started by making a shape out of cardboard. Next we put a layer of paper mache and then another. We next added the fins and tails to get the final details before we painted. 1. I thought that my snake/ animal head was very good. The shape of the body was difficult to keep stable but it worked. I also deiced to go creative with the glaze instead of realistic, but I liked the way the glaze turned out after it was fired.
2. If I could have changed anything I would have gone back and made the body more equal and put more detail in the face. 3. I started by making a big coil Next I trimmed the piece and started carving scales. Once it was fired and glazed it got fired again and the piece turned out great. 1. I thought that my pieces were very well constructed and had a good shape. I also liked the way the glaze turned out after they were fired.
2. If I could have changed anything I would have gone back on the wheel and made them thinner so the pieces would have been lighter and easier to use. 3. I started by throwing my pieces on the wheel. Next I trimmed the piece sod I could glaze. Once they were fired and glazed they got fired again and then they were finished 1. I chose to do a cobra because I thought it would be fun to be able to create a piece where the animal head and the body flowed together into one piece.
2. I started by creating the body out of one long coil using my reference images. I then created the top portion of the cobras body and waited for the clay to harden a bit so that it could support itself. 3.The hardest thing on this project was working on the scales and trying to get them to flow from the head down the body of the snake. I also had difficulties stabilizing the head of the snake. 4. I really liked the way the body looked and how the final stages all combined. I also thought the body shape was very realistic. |
